DIAPER DUTY

I know this subject might gross some of u out, so beware... Im on constant diaper duty 24/7...the nurses in Huntington Memorial Hospital called Jenna a '' pooper'' for the innumerable dirty diapers they changed ... she has been a great pooper until we started solids...now there r days we are waiting for some activity to happen.Being a first time mom,im constantly looking into the diaper to make sure she is pooping ok.... i change atleast 6-8 diapers a day and nowadays putting on a diaper for Jenna has become a great challenge for me ..she rolls over the moment i place her on the floor,, she tosses and turns and grabs my hand making it more difficult... i give her some toy so that she will be engaged with it and put on the diaper quickly... and a tip for new mommies is to wait for few minutes before changing a poopy diaper since when u place a fresh diaper they go again ... and one diaper can be saved... always carry enough diapers in hand while going out, u might go out of it and carry bags so that u can dispose dirty diapers as soon as u are changing... maybe they r old tips but they are of first hand experience.

ITSY-BITSY SPIDER

Nursery rhymes now have become a part of my life,gone are the days when i used to hum movie songs,now i keep humming twinkle twinle little star, and itsy bitsy spider.. our playlists in the car include these rhymes. when Jenna no longer wants to sit in the car seat , we play the nursery rhymes cd and she goes back to wah- wah land.... every new mommy and mommy to be should have this for a peaceful car ride.i m proud to tell now i know 40 nursery rhymes,dunno whether i knew so many during my pre school days... so my favourite rhymes are itsy bitsy spider,five litlle monkeys,heads shoulders knees and toes... Jenna s favourite twinkle twinkle,baa baa,this little puppy,hickory dickory ,rain rain and five little monkey...jamil s favourite is this little puppy.
so today i end the blog with our favourite rhymes..

SLEEP TRAINING

Jenna has not been a gr8 sleeper from dayone.. it takes me atleast half an hour to put her to bed and only if i nurse her she will go to bed.I have to blame myself for this situation.Dr Rivera says i need to train her before six months or she will never learn to sleep on her own..oh so i have one month left to sleep train her,and one more thing.....she does not sleep in her crib, she loves to play in the crib but will not sleep... so i let her sleep with me,and all of us have a good sleep.Jamil jokingly keeps reminding that if she is not sleeping in the crib,u sleep in it...hmm good idea, because every morning im pushed to the edge of the bed by both of them. So i have been reading the sleep training techniques and i find the Sears method suits us best...im goin to start with nap time and slowly progress to night time... wish me luck....

STAY- AT HOME MOM

Being a stay at home mom is definitely not easy and taking care of an active 4 month old with house chores to do makes it more difficult...I find myself juggling between nursing,diapers and cooking ...i dont even know how the day starts and ends.i eat during her naps, and i have cooking to finish before Jamil returns for lunch, Jenna wants to keep her entertained and if she sees me in the kitchen she screams bloody murder... i keep making goofy faces from the kitchen, no use... she cries to be held.. then i give her a bath and get her ready. By that time,Jamil is there. i hand over Jenna and rush for a bath, within ten minutes im out... oh i so miss the days when i used to sit in the tub for hours..., then again nap time... i have my lunch and sit in the computer, when i think okie lets lay down for sumtime,Jenna is up and ready to play.. later we go for a stroll in our locality and we r back to be joined by jamil..its dinner and by the time its ten ,im too tired..jenna is yet to sleep through the night but there r days she goes 4 to 5 hrs without getting up in between...i now realise the great help my mom nd dad had been .So do i seem like complaining..? nah!though im tired, i enjoy being a stay at home mom, there were times when i was so jobless and didnt know how to spend my time... now time flies..today when i was changing jenna s diaper,i was winking at her and she winked back after staring at me for a long time, i have heard infants at this stage mimick our expression but this is the first time she winked... oh i was sooo happy.... now who does not love getting to stay at home?

4 MONTH CHECK UP

we had been to her pediatrician today for her fourth month check up..it was an early morning appointment. i personally hate early morning appointments ,have to wake up early,get myself and jenna ready... but we have to since jamil cant come during office hours.
Jenna now weighs 16 pounds 4 oz and Dr. Rivera said she is growing well. An interesting thing happened in the dr office... Dr. Rivera was saying that it takes 6 months to grab at things and while he was saying this Jenna immediately grabbed his shirt, he said to her oh!so ur ahead of schedule huh.. she was not allowing the nurse to take her temperature,constantly grabbing her hands and kicking her..She had one of her shot, its awful to see her crying but she stops crying the moment i nurse her,so thats the trick i do everytime... we have to three more of her shots to be given since there was a shortage ,so will be goin the office again next week....

JENNA'S MILESTONES

it looks like yesterday i gave birth to her but she is already 4 and half months and is growing everyday.

1.she smiles at me and jamil and few other people like our friends raj nd viji who she sees every week. she takes time to smile at strangers.

2. can grasp the rattle and shake it.

3. rolls over from back to tummy... she is a pro

4. creeps with her body,she is yet to master this and start crawling..

5.she has found her toes and is constantly investigating them

6.enjoys nursery rhymes... she loves twinkle twinkle little star and this would calm her in minutes...

she is schduled for her four month check up tommorrow and she is going to have her shots... will update tommorrow about her checkup

FIRST-TIME MOMMY

i wanted to blog for a long time about my new journey in life.... BEING A MOM. its the best thing that happened in my life and im enjoying this new journey.i gave birth to a, beautiful daughter jenna khan on oct 6 2008, she weighed 8 pounds ,5 oz.i had a normal delivery ,and it was painless ,ofcourse with the help of epidural.from then started a new life... My mom nd dad came from india to visit their grand daughter,and they stayed with us for 4 months and helped us.Being a first time mom is exciting and at the same time nerve wracking too...im constantly learning new things about my daughter...which helps me become a better mom day after day.
