OCTOBER BUDDIES

Jenna had a visitor this week.It s my friend' s son Sabarish who is 25 days younger to her... He is such a cutie.... this is the first time Jenna is meeting someone almost her age... she was so curious ,was touching his eyes and nose...On the other hand,Sabari was quite a darling.. he sat silently watching everybody intently... when he was feeling sleepy,i jus rocked him gently and he fell asleep...hmmm... i wish Jenna could sleep like that... when its nap time for her i get anxious because she will not want to be put down though she is tired... i dont schedule any outings during her nap time because she will not sleep well... and she will remain cranky the rest of the day. A CRANKY BABY=SUPER CRANKY MOM

DRESS -UP TIME

I love to dress up,temme which girl doesnt but after Jenna was born i rarely dressed up for any occasion.At home,i was in my faded pajamas and t-shirt which smelled of spit -up milk and cereal and apple sauce,carrots.... u name it,i had it on my shirt...there were times when i used to smell of applesauce.... i hardly ever combed my hair,i used to just roll it in a bun... after coming here i started dressing up like before ,wearing indian clothes with matching earrings and combed hair with fresh jasmine flowers.... Jamil said its nearly two years since he saw me like this because most of my time in u.s i was in maternity clothes and the post partum 6 months in which i was unkempt... atleast from now on i should make it a point to take care of myself...

BUSY BEE

If ur wondering who is the busy bee? nope not me.. its Jenna... she is busy 24/7... people are visiting her daily ,even at odd hours like eleven in the night.. no they dont get to see her since she is fast asleep but people who come in the morning are lucky...they get to interact with her... Coming to me, im super jobless nowadays, i have nothing to do ,i just get to nurse her... my brother offers to change her diaper,all my neice and nephew want to play with her, my mom wants to feed her solids, my cousin wants to give her a bath,neighbours are taking her home and playing with her... i dont get my time with her except while nursing and i totally treasure the moment.. once she is fed ,she is taken away immediately...today when i got up in the morning ,i didnt find her next to me,i really panicked for a sec and got up to find my mom was playing with her,i really have no idea when Jenna got up and when my mom took her. I dont know how to spend this time.. its so boring... all my friends are working so i dont get to talk to them... back home i didnt know how time used to fly but im jus enjoying this time where i dont need to cook,sleep some more time and just laze around ....

ACTIVE MODE

Jenna was in such an active mode yesterday... two of my friends came to visit Jenna ,while i was sending off one of my friends,Jenna was in the bed with my friend Abi and all of sudden she came crawling and jumped from the bed..o god.. i swear my heart stopped for a minute and my mind went blank... thank god Abi caught her before she landed on the floor... you should have seen Jenna s face she was shocked but she became ok once i carried her...hey Abi if ur reading thank u so much... if not for ur timely action she would have landed straight on the floor...SO from now on i should be in alert mode... keeping my eyes on her all time...and hey Jenna is sitting quite well without support... like this

NOT ME!MONDAY

first of all i need to thank mckmama for doing this,it inspired me to join along with many others in this not me! monday post.ok! let me start..

i did not pretend to act asleep when Jenna woke in the morning only to find within minutes my hubby tending to her....

i did not hear the explosion in Jenna s diaper and asked my mom to change a fresh one since its been too long ..

i did not wish not more than once i was in u.s instead of being back home....

i did not get pissed at my friends who said they are coming over to meet Jenna and did not turn up...not me!

im actually loving this..... makes me feel better.

VACATIONING IN CHENNAI

Jamil s colleague described Chennai at its best in 3 words... HOT HOTTER HOTTEST.I agree... its not even May when Chennai is in its peak summer and its soaring high in April,not that Los angeles would be snowing in summer... but i was complaining just last year that L.A is hotter than Chennai, now i take back my words.. back in states u dont even sweat.. here its sultry all time. I dont know why i seem to complain now,after all i have been spending most of my lifetime here.I think an almost two years in a foreign country makes me whine ..... Coming to Jenna ,she used to sweat in u.s itself so now dont even ask?i thought babies dont sweat ,their sweat glands are still developing but she proved me wrong.. even when the air conditioner is on she seems to sweat in the back of her head so we are planning to give a haircut..On the other hand,relatives and friends are visiting everyday and Jenna doesnt seem to go much to them, i think stranger anxiety has set in.... she holds my shirt and doesnt want to let go off me when someone tries to carry her... i feel happy that she doesnt want to let go mommy but on the downside it would be nice if she mingles with everyone.BTW as i promised posting a pic of Jenna drinking water from her sippy... drinking 1 or 2 ounce of water in summer like chennai makes babies hydrated.

MOSQUITO BITES

I m dedicating this blog to the mosquitoes all over the world,especially the ones in Chennai.These pesky creatures made Jenna wake up in the middle of the night screaming her heads off,i had no idea why she was screaming ,later only to find that these creatures had bit her in four different places.The last time she was screaming so loud was when she was having her shots. The rest of the night me and jamil were awake shooing mosquitoes with our electric mosquito bat.For peope who dont know what is the electric mosquito bat,it is similar to the tennis bat ,it serves the purpose of killing the mosquitoes while in contact with the bat. I would say its a life saver.Even while i type this there is mosquito on my hand and before i could bat ,it escaped but im sure it would meet its death as soon as im done typing this blog ,if ur wondering how,its with my life saver electric bat.Though i have had innumerable mosquito bites ,this is the first time for Jenna ,im sure it would have hurted like the way when u get ur shots. Now we sleep in a bed covered with a big mosquito net .And lastly to all the mosquitoes ,if u guys are reading this i wanted to tell u guys SUCK big time.

HOME SWEET HOME

We reached safely in India after a tiring 19 hour journey in the flight. Jenna was pretty much ok throughout the journey . We got a bassinet but she preffered my lap better than the bassinet, so i was pretty tired since i did not sleep much in the flight. Its so good to be back home,in my own room in which i spent most of my time during my pre marriage days,meeting friends and relatives , having homemade food..its just too good to be back.On the downside,its summer in chennai and its scorching hot,the traffic is crazy and the mosquitoes,o my god,i have to blog seperately about that... anyways its good to be back in good old chennai.. Jenna is doing ok,since she is not used to seeing too many people, so she is a bit cranky and since her schedule is totally messed up, she is awake at odd hours in the morning but hopefully she will turn out to be ok by next week.

BABY KISS

Do 6 month olds give kiss? i dunno but Jenna sure did...i said to Jenna ''mommy kiss'' and bent towards her and she gave a wet sloppy kiss on my cheek.. i m not sure whether she understood but it sure made my day... then we are all packed and ready to fly tommorrow but i m so paranoid about the flight. Will Jenna be cranky during the 18 hour flight? Will she be ok in India?Its pretty hot now and she is not vaccinated fully.Im excited in meeting all my friends and family after a year and half but at the same time im worried about Jenna whether she would be able to handle the weather and water change... all my single friends would think im crazy but im sure all my mommy friends would understand.You might wonder then why the hell are you going? but its an emergency travel which we have to make.All are bags are packed and we are all set..alrighty! Here we come India....

6 MONTH OLD MILESTONES

Jenna has turned 6 months today.... yay! She weighs 18 pounds 8 ounces.The following are her milestones

1.She can roll over in both directions... she can move from one place to another by rolling and creeping with her body,the other day she got under the bed.

2.She is on her hand and knees(crawling position) and rocks back and forth.. it is sooo cutee.hopefully she will learn to crawl in another month or so.

3.She sits up without support for sometime and then she topples over.

4.She gets up sideways from her tummy to a sitting position.

5. She can move towards an object by creeping with her body and can grasp the object well.

6.She is now picking the smallest object from the carpet but thankgod has not mouthed it yet.

7.She has started stage 2 solid foods and has mastered the sippy cup.

8. Her favourite food as of now is gerber mac and cheese and pasta with veggies.

9.Her favourite song as of now is GENDA PHOOL from the movie delhi 6

10.Her favourite game is peek a boo.

i guess im bragging too much about my kiddo but where else can i brag...?its my space and i get the bragging rights .... and today is extra special since she is 1/2 year old.... Happy Half birthday Jenna...

DOCTOR VISIT

We had been to the doc yesterday for Jenna for a check up since we are travelling to India and SURPRISE we had two of her missed shots from the 4 month check up..She did not cry for the first shot because daddy was busy distracting her but for the next shot,she started crying but as usual i calmed her by nursing ... we came back home and she took a long nap for about 2 hours..and was back to normal again.. she has a band aid on each of her thigh...poor baby.. i hate every time she has shots,it makes me feel so bad... but cant help it... Dr Rivera gave us the list of medicines for us to carry for our travel.So all set,now we have to start packing...
