HELLO CHENNAI...

The place where i come from is called Chennai,formerly known as Madras.This was the place where i was raised.

These are some of the things i love about this place.

FILTER COFEE
This is one coffee i would die for ,or should i say any coffee lover.The rich taste and aroma will definitely make you yearn for more .


DOSA(rice pancakes)
This is my favourite and i do make it at home but it never turns out half as good as it does in the restaurant.I'm still working on my culinary skills and i'm sure i will master the art one day : )
If you dont understand what on earth i'm talking about.. then u need to find an Indian restaurant nearby and try this ...
JASMINE FLOWERS

I love this flower and Indian women adorn this in the hair for any special occasion .
You will see this in Indian marriages for sure.



SILK SAREES
I love sarees but i rarely wear them.Silk sarees are my favourite and my wardrobe has few silk sarees but i rarely find the occasion to wear it in the U.S


There are still many things i love about this place and i have mentioned only few. I'm sure everyone will have their own favourite things about their hometown.There is no place like ur own hometown..I'm sure u will agree : )

VACATIONING IN CHENNAI

Jamil s colleague described Chennai at its best in 3 words... HOT HOTTER HOTTEST.I agree... its not even May when Chennai is in its peak summer and its soaring high in April,not that Los angeles would be snowing in summer... but i was complaining just last year that L.A is hotter than Chennai, now i take back my words.. back in states u dont even sweat.. here its sultry all time. I dont know why i seem to complain now,after all i have been spending most of my lifetime here.I think an almost two years in a foreign country makes me whine ..... Coming to Jenna ,she used to sweat in u.s itself so now dont even ask?i thought babies dont sweat ,their sweat glands are still developing but she proved me wrong.. even when the air conditioner is on she seems to sweat in the back of her head so we are planning to give a haircut..On the other hand,relatives and friends are visiting everyday and Jenna doesnt seem to go much to them, i think stranger anxiety has set in.... she holds my shirt and doesnt want to let go off me when someone tries to carry her... i feel happy that she doesnt want to let go mommy but on the downside it would be nice if she mingles with everyone.BTW as i promised posting a pic of Jenna drinking water from her sippy... drinking 1 or 2 ounce of water in summer like chennai makes babies hydrated.

MOSQUITO BITES

I m dedicating this blog to the mosquitoes all over the world,especially the ones in Chennai.These pesky creatures made Jenna wake up in the middle of the night screaming her heads off,i had no idea why she was screaming ,later only to find that these creatures had bit her in four different places.The last time she was screaming so loud was when she was having her shots. The rest of the night me and jamil were awake shooing mosquitoes with our electric mosquito bat.For peope who dont know what is the electric mosquito bat,it is similar to the tennis bat ,it serves the purpose of killing the mosquitoes while in contact with the bat. I would say its a life saver.Even while i type this there is mosquito on my hand and before i could bat ,it escaped but im sure it would meet its death as soon as im done typing this blog ,if ur wondering how,its with my life saver electric bat.Though i have had innumerable mosquito bites ,this is the first time for Jenna ,im sure it would have hurted like the way when u get ur shots. Now we sleep in a bed covered with a big mosquito net .And lastly to all the mosquitoes ,if u guys are reading this i wanted to tell u guys SUCK big time.

HOME SWEET HOME

We reached safely in India after a tiring 19 hour journey in the flight. Jenna was pretty much ok throughout the journey . We got a bassinet but she preffered my lap better than the bassinet, so i was pretty tired since i did not sleep much in the flight. Its so good to be back home,in my own room in which i spent most of my time during my pre marriage days,meeting friends and relatives , having homemade food..its just too good to be back.On the downside,its summer in chennai and its scorching hot,the traffic is crazy and the mosquitoes,o my god,i have to blog seperately about that... anyways its good to be back in good old chennai.. Jenna is doing ok,since she is not used to seeing too many people, so she is a bit cranky and since her schedule is totally messed up, she is awake at odd hours in the morning but hopefully she will turn out to be ok by next week.
